We are looking for leadership roles, committee chairs and volunteers to make the event successful. Please call the office at 620-273-6666 if you have questions or email [email protected].

The City Council of Cottonwood Falls is interested in celebrating the 250th Anniversary of America. The city is working with the Chase County Offices and the Chase County Chamber in ordering new banners for the 4th of July Celebration and Semi-quincentennial Celebration.  The 4th of July Fireworks Celebration will be on Friday, July 3rd, 2026.

We are hoping to  have community volunteers, Chase County Jr-Sr.  High School, Chase County Elementary School, and local businesses and corporate businesses share the celebration with the City of Cottonwood Falls downtown businesses.

We are asking  if local community members would volunteer in a leadership role to organize committees with committee chairs, for events for the celebration on July 3rd.

We have been given a list of ideas from the community members for some events that you, family members , organizations, schools, and clubs may contribute to. Business members and corporate businesses may want to participate in contributions and volunteering to make the event a success.

Committees would organize a parade, entertainment, games,  scavenger hunt , ice cream social, other items mentioned- a history presentation of our county, community, and/or a short presentation on the history of America and the State of Kansas.  Painting a mural with community members participating. Teachers and history buffs could be interested in this part.

Chase County Fair Board – have a small Farmers Market  for a couple of hours in the morning. The 4-H Clubs might want to have a presentation or a float in the parade.

Chase County Jr.-Sr. High School: The band may want to participate if we have a parade.

Clubs and organizations could have booths set up for fundraising and participating in the parade. Booster Clubs, high school & junior high students who have joined organizations,  clubs and sports could participate in the parade.  The freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors could sell items for a fundraiser. Parade floats would be appreciated.

Chase County Elementary School: Clubs, organizations, boys, and girls scout clubs. Parade float would be appreciated.

Chase County Sheriff Offices: Participate in the parade with their vehicles and UTV  and offer some instructional class.

Chase County Fire Department: Participate in the parade and share  information on their services.

If you happen to know anyone who might belong to a community club, antique cars, tractors, cruising clubs, motorcycle clubs, cyclist that would be interested in joining in the parade. A quilting club, garden club, book club could use the 220 ½ Broadway to setup items and/or booths. ( Prairie PastTimes prior location).

Community volunteers to chair the ice cream social, asking the community to donate to this and get volunteers to serve the ice cream.

Caseys General Store & Dollar General could donate water, snacks, ice cream cones , or monetary funds.

Leadership, Committee Chairs. Volunteers, Corporate &  Business Sponsorship is needed quickly to have this work by July 3rd. – July 4th Celebration.

These are just ideas given to us and sending out these letters to our community and businesses to see if we can make this possible. Please fill out the enclosed form and please mail, email, or drop them off at the city office by May 11, 2026.

Please email: [email protected] or call Tina Andrews of Terri Davis at the City of Cottonwood Falls office. 620-273-6666 if you want to volunteer, ideas and questions. We will do our best to help.
